The most eastern part of the Maine Coast is known as “Downeast Maine.” Encompassing over 5000 square miles with only 1 stop light, Downeast Maine offers miles of pristine cycling. Join us as we explore off-the-beaten-track Maine and spending a day cycling into Canda.
After several days Downeast, you will ride a ferry into Bar Harbor, with stunning views of Acadia National Park as the backdrop.

Day 1: Hiking Maine’s Bold Coast
Your leaders will collect you from your hotel in Bangor for the transfer to the quiet village of Lubec. After lunch overlooking the ocean, We enjoy a short warm up ride along Passamaquoddy Bay.

Day 2. Wild Maine Blueberries and a True Fishing Community
Today you cycle to Culter, one of the last pristine fishing village along the coast. Your ride offers miles of solitude, abundant sea roses

Day 3 Cycling Into Canda and Whale Watching
A short ride takes you over the bridge to Campobello Island, Canada. Your first stop is the summer cottage of FDR where we explore the grounds and well-preserved summer cottage. From here you cycle up the island to East Quoddy Light at the Northern Tip of the Island before embarking on a whale watching excursion.

Day 4 Exploring Machias and the Rugged Schoodic Peninsula
A morning transfer to Machias where you cycle to the site of the first Revolutionary War Naval Battle. Another transfer takes you to the rugged beauty of the Schoodic Peninsula for more cycling before taking a late ferry to Bar Harbor.

Day 5 Acadia’s Carriage Roads
Picture breathtaking scenery, gentle grades, and car-free cycling, and you have Acadia’s famous carriage roads. A gift of John D. Rockefeller to help the people of America enjoy Acadia’s beauty the carriage roads offer the opportunity to cycle through stately forests of pine and birch and to enjoy panoramic views of Mount Desert Island.

Day 6 Park Loop Road
We start our day with an early morning ride on Acadia’s famous Park Loop Road. The early start allows us to enjoy the ride before the crowds enter the park. At noon we will shuttle you back to Bangor.
